Nansemond River High School junior soccer player Indiah Hunter has committed to play college soccer at Old Dominion University.

Indiah Hunter decided on her college future earlier this week. The junior is currently enjoying a 9-1 season with the Lady Warriors and is happy about her recruiting process being over.

“The process was very stressful, because it is life changing,” the junior said. “I am very blessed to be able to play at the next level. It is definitely a stress reliever knowing I’ve decided on my future.”

Hunter said she chose ODU because its program is heading in the right direction. She believes in their coaching staff that she had formed a relationship with when she was a freshman.

Some of the coaches attended her travel ball games. From there, she went on an unofficial visit and loved what she saw. On her visit, she met a few of the players, and they were very welcoming.

As of right now, Hunter has decided that she wants to major in something dealing with health science.

Hunter has been nursing an injury throughout her junior season and is hoping to get healthy soon. Regardless, she is still happy with the team success. She currently has eight goals and five assists on the season.

“I love my team,” Hunter said. “After losing our head coach last year and having coach Baca come in, I think the team has done well with the adjustment.”

Nansemond River will start conference play at home Friday against Gloucester High School.
