World Class lands state champ

Following are the World Class Gymnastics results from the Virginia State Meet for Levels 8, 9 and 10, held March 18 and 19 in Richmond.

Lauren Chenault of Suffolk won the Virginia State Meet state championship with an all-around score of 37.725 in Level 8 of the Senior Division. She came in first on the beam, second on bars, third on vault and sixth on floor.

Level 10

Ages 18 and up: Hope Nelson, 1st bars 9.725, 2nd beam, 9.525, 3T AA 36.2

Age 17: Melinda Anselmo, 5th bars 9.125, Ashleigh Turek, 5th AA 36.45

Age 16: Kourtney Chinnery, 1st vault 9.75, 5th bars 8.8, 2nd beam 9.55, 1st floor 9.625, 1st AA 37.725

Age 15: Lily Olson, 3rd bars 9.375

Age 14: Kiana Lewis, 4th vault 9.25, 5th bars 6.65, 2nd beam 9.35, 2T floor 9.65, 5th AA 34.9

Ages 11 and 12: Ava Siegfeldt, 1st vault 9.5, 2nd bars 9.05, 2nd beam 9.55, 1st floor 9.125, 2nd AA 37.225

Level 10 took second-place team with a score of 113.925 behind Capital’s 1st-place score of 115.425.

Level 10 regional qualifiers were Melinda Anselmo (AA), Kourtney Chinnery (AA), Kiana Lewis (AA), Hope Nelson (AA), Lily Olson (Bars), Ava Siegfeldt (AA) and Ashleigh Turek (AA).

Age 15: Favour Davis, 2ndT beam 9.250; Kelsey Jones, 1st vault 9.675, 3rd floor 9.575; Sarah Dorough, 2nd bars 9.375, 2nd floor 9.625

World class finished first with a 115.025 ahead of Capital’s 113.575 score.
