King’s Fork High School seniors Raemaad Wright and Amesha Miller will compete in the A.S.S.I.S.T Regional Senior All-Star games on March 25 at Meadowbrook High School.

The teams for the all-star games are compiled from senior players in the region. This year will be the sixth annual event.

Wright is excited to get a chance to play on the court one last time during his senior year.

“I’m excited I get another chance to showcase my talents in front of a crowd on the court again,” Wright said. “It’s an event I can’t wait to experience, and it’s going to be really competitive.”

Wright enjoyed a season in which he was a first team All-Conference 17 selection and a second team 4A East All-Region selection. The Bulldog senior was consistently bringing in double-doubles for his team every night averaging around 15 points and 15 rebounds a game.

King’s Fork’s season ended after a semifinal Conference 17 tournament loss to Deep Creek but finished second overall during the regular season. Despite not achieving the ultimate goal this year, Wright was satisfied with how his senior year went. He played football for the Bulldogs back in the fall for the first time, and he felt that helped his production on the court this year.

“It was a good season for me,” he said. “Playing football changed my entire game and it showed. I was able to help put my team in some good situations this year with the help of my team and coaching staff. I felt like we had a good enough team to be playing in the state championship after our girls, but we got cut short. Overall, I had a great senior year with the guys.”

As for Miller, the Lady Bulldogs season ended in a state championship loss to Monacan High School. Miller finished her senior season as the Conference 17 player of the year and first-team all-region selection. She will further her career in the fall at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Events for that day will also feature a dunk contest, three-point shootout and presentation of academic achievement awards. There will also be door prizes and giveaways. Admission is $15 at the door, but advance tickets can be purchased for $12. Call 804-397-3261 for more information.

The A.S.S.I.S.T Regional Senior All-Star games will be played at Meadowbrook High School in Richmond. The girls’ game will begin at 3 p.m., and the boys’ game will follow immediately afterward.
