Virginia Eye Consultants is accepting nominations for “Looking Forward…Giving Back,” a program through which the company’s surgeons provide charitable eye procedures for members of the Hampton Roads community who are uninsured, underinsured or financially unable to pay for their procedures.
Each year they perform 50 or more free surgeries to help people save their sight. These procedures include cataract surgery, LASIK surgery, corneal transplants, glaucoma surgery and other treatments for trauma.
Nominations will be accepted through May 15. Submissions can be made online at www.virginiaeyeconsultants.com or at any of Virginia Eye Consultants’ five locations, including the one in Suffolk.
“Looking Forward…Giving Back brings free eye surgery to patients who would otherwise have no access whatsoever,” said Dr. John Sheppard, president of Virginia Eye Consultants. “This program helps deserving patients, many times the working poor without insurance, receive desperately needed services they could not otherwise afford.”
A panel will review and select the nominees in late May, and surgeries will be performed in August.
