VHSL sets state track meet schedules

Suffolk’s three public high schools all will have individuals competing in the indoor track and field state meets this weekend. King’s Fork and Lakeland high schools will be competing at Roanoke College, while Nansemond River High School will be competing at the Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton.

Feb. 24-25 4A/3A (King’s Fork and Lakeland)

Both the 4A and 3A state meets will be held at Roanoke College. Lakeland’s boys’ track team is coming off of a regional championship and will be looking to add to that by taking the 3A state championship as well. King’s Fork will have a combined 14 athletes participating in the state meet on Friday and Saturday.

Feb. 24-25 5A state meet (Nansemond River)

The 5A state meet will be held at Boo Williams Sportsplex in Hampton. Nansemond River will be competing this weekend for the 5A state meet. In the 5A South regionals, the Nansemond River girls’ track team, also known as “WAR,” took second place.

Field events will start the meet off at 9 a.m. Friday. On Saturday, the field events will start the meet off at 8 a.m. Events will go on all day, and team awards will be given at 6 p.m.

The price of admission is $10.
