King’s Fork High School’s boys’ basketball team had four players receive recognition on the All-Conference 17 teams.

The Bulldogs’ season ended last Tuesday on a three-point loss to Deep Creek. King’s Fork was the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament and was hoping for a regional berth. Regardless of the outcome of the season, the Bulldogs had a solid season within conference play.

James Hatton and Raemaad Wright headline the Bulldogs that were on the first team. Hatton led the Bulldogs in scoring with 16 points per game. Wright averaged a double-double for the year, including a game in which he poured in 24 points and brought down 21 rebounds in a game against Hertford County this season. Last year, both players were honorable mentions.

“It feels great to accomplish one of my goals, but I’m not satisfied,” Hatton said. “I still have a chip on my shoulder, and that will make me come back harder next year.”

“Last year me and James were honorable mentions,” Wright said. “On that night last year we told each other we would be first team all-conference next year, and that’s what happened.”

Leontre Bailey and Rontre Pope received second-team honors for the Bulldogs. Outside of Wright, the other three players will be returning for King’s Fork next season. Bailey will be a junior while Pope and Hatton will be seniors next year.
