Walking, biking plan on tap

Suffolk officials have announced that they are beginning the work on the city’s first bicycle and pedestrian plan.
The plan will focus on the downtown and North Suffolk areas, denoted as Suffolk’s two “Growth Areas” in the 2015 comprehensive plan.
The work is being funded by a grant from the Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment.
A community meeting on March 7 at City Hall will give citizens an opportunity to review project maps and exhibits outlining possibilities for connecting the downtown and North Suffolk areas for “non-motorized travelers,” according to a city press release.
The doors will open, and exhibits will be available, at 6:30 p.m., with a meeting following at 7 p.m.
Citizens can also provide input by completing a Biking and Walking Survey that can be found on the city’s website at www.suffolkva.us.
Suffolk is working with consulting firm Rhodeside and Harwell to complete the plan.
