King’s Fork’s girls’ basketball team got a win against Lake Taylor on senior night Monday.
The Lady Bulldogs hosted Lake Taylor in a Conference 17 matchup. In the first meeting, Lake Taylor won at home by two points. On Monday night the Lady Bulldogs came back with a 57-45 win.
“The game was good,” Lady Bulldogs coach Maurice Fofana said. “We did many things that we had been working on and had success. I didn’t like the way we closed the game out, but we got the win, and that was the main thing.”
Senior Amesha Miller led all scorers with 24 points. Miller, along with Alexis Wethington, Tytionnia Smith and Cydney Nichols, were recognized as the team’s seniors. Fofana has coached Miller and Nichols for four years. He has coached Wethington for three years and Smith for a year.
“It has been fun coaching these girls,” Fofana said. “I can see all of them having an opportunity to play at the next level.”
King’s Fork is in first place in Conference 17. With a win Wednesday against Wilson, the Lady Bulldogs would clinch a first-round bye and No. 1 seed in the Conference 17 tournament.
King’s Fork will play at Wilson at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
