Dr. Milton R. Liverman

Milton R. Liverman departed this life on Feb. 2, 2017. He leaves to remember his life, Shirley, his faithful and loving wife of 24 years, and son, Brian. He is also survived by his mother, Louise Liverman, and five brothers, Roland (Brenda), Douglas (Matline), Melbert (Debbie), Thomas (Hazel) and Archie (Julie); five sisters, Fran (Will), Laura (Calvin), Doris, Inetta and Marvella.

Milton was a proud graduate of Elizabeth City State University, Old Dominion University and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. That prepared him for a 37-year career in education. Thirty-six of those years were spent in Suffolk Public Schools, where he began as a math teacher, held many positions and spent the last 10 years as superintendent before retirement.

During his career, Milton always put students first. You could count on him to tell you the facts, whether it was what you wanted to hear or not. He worked hard but was never satisfied that he had done enough for the students and staff of Suffolk Public Schools.

Milton was most pleased that God chose him to use his gifts for His service. He was a member of East End Baptist Church, where he served in the ministry with his wife, Shirley, as licensed ministers, ordained pastors and Sunday school teachers. God gave the Livermans a new ministry: 4 HZ GLORY MINISTRY. They were blessed to minister together for many years.

Milton’s favorite scripture was Isaiah 40:31: “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.” Milton is no longer waiting on the Lord. He is with his Lord!

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, at King’s Fork High School. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on the day of service.
