Harold Kidd

Harold “Pete” Kidd died Jan. 28, 2017, at age 96.

He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard as the safety director and subsequently retired as plant manager of Hobbs Adams Engineering Co. of Suffolk. He was a past master of Lake Drummond Masonic Lodge, Portsmouth Scottish Rite bodies, a Shriner and a former member of Norfolk Court Royal Order of Jesters. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and Korea. Pete was active in his community. He was the first president of Jolliff Little League, a charter member of the board of directors of the Marlin Swim Club of Chesapeake, member of the board of directors and served on the budget committee of the United Way of Chesapeake and Portsmouth, was a former member of the Chesapeake School Board, and a member of Suffolk City Council from 1982-1986.

He is predeceased by his wife, Jenny. He is survived by his loving family, daughter, Debby Weeks and her husband, Bob; granddaughters, Brandy Johnson and Jaime Harrell; grandson, Wayne Weeks; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan Daughtrey, Regan Johnson and Jase Johnson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, with the Rev. Michael D. Halley officiating.
