The Lady Bulldogs faced the Lake Taylor Lady Titans Friday on the road and took a 58-56 loss.

It was the first loss in conference play this year for the King’s Fork girls’ basketball team. The loss puts the Lady Bulldogs at 14-4 on the year.

Despite the loss, Lady Bulldogs coach Maurice Fofana felt his team competed well.

“We competed hard,” Fofana said. “We played well in spurts, and sometimes we took plays off.”

King’s Fork struggled from the free throw line Friday night, missing a total of 19 free throws, and did not shoot particularly well from the field. Though not shooting well the Lady Bulldogs still had chances to win.

“We want to get better around the basket,” Fofana said. “We didn’t shoot well, but they weren’t all jump shots. Some of those misses were around the basket, and we have to get better at that. We also want to clean up our free throw shooting going into this stretch we are coming up on soon.”

“I think we played hard from start to finish,” the Lady Bulldogs’ Amesha Miller said. “We just could not keep the lead.”

Both teams met four times last season, and though all were close battles, the Lady Bulldogs won all four games.

The Lady Bulldogs won’t be in action again until Friday, when they take on Wilson, another Conference 17 opponent, at home at 7:15 p.m.
