One dead after crash

UPDATE: The driver of the Acura succumbed to his injuries Monday morning, according to a city press release.
He has been identified as Eric Zivan Brown Jr., 21, of Suffolk.
The downtown exit on Route 58 westbound was closed again Monday morning as the accident reconstruction team continued its investigation.
Earlier: One person was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash on Route 58 westbound that closed a portion of the downtown exit Sunday afternoon.
Police and firefighters responded to the call at 12:42 p.m., according to a city press release. It involved a Dodge minivan and Acura passenger vehicle.
Preliminary investigation found that the Acura struck the minivan and left the roadway, landing in the wooded area adjacent to the roadway. The Acura driver was ejected and was airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with serious injuries.
The four occupants of the minivan, two adults and two juveniles, were not injured, according to the press release.
The downtown Suffolk exit was closed for part of the afternoon, and traffic was detoured to the 58 bypass.
