Wesley Bernard Owens

Wesley Bernard Owens, affectionately known as Buddy, was born June 29, 1941, in Nansemond County to the late Joe Thomas and Lenno Skeeter Owens. He was the youngest of six children.
He received his early childhood education at Hosier Lane School No. 2 in Nansemond County. He was employed by Art Ray Corpo., and worked industriously until the time of his retirement.
At an early age, he accepted Christ and joined Mt. Ararat Christian Church. Wesley enjoyed fishing and hunting as extracurricular activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Margaret Owens Smith; and brother, Joe Henry Owens.
He leaves to cherish in his memory three sisters, Kathleen Owens Simmons of Portsmouth; Lennora Owens Skeeter of Suffolk; Marice Owens Griffith of Portsmouth; two foster siblings, Earl Eley (Jannine) of Chesapeake; Gloria Perry of Suffolk; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and one dearly beloved nephew, Quentin Perry.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home.
