Player of the week nominees

Following are this week’s nominees for the Duke Automotive-Suffolk News-Herald Player of the Week:

Lindsay Knierbein, senior, Nansemond-Suffolk Academy girls’ basketball: Knierbein scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in an overtime win against First Colonial. Knierbein also had a steal that led to game-winning free throws to give the Lady Saints a 54-51 win. She also had nine points in a win against HRA on Tuesday.

Dia Gray, senior, Nansemond River High School wrestling: Gray had two wins Wednesday for Nansemond River’s wrestling team at 285 pounds. He won both of his matches in less than a minute. Nansemond River had wins over Oscar Smith and Indian River in the dual meet.

Deja Freeman, senior, Lakeland High School girls’ basketball: Freeman had 10 points, eight rebounds and four blocks for the Lady Cavs in a win over Indian River on Friday.

Amesha Miller, senior, King’s Fork- Miller had 11 points and 15 rebounds in a Lady Bulldogs win against rival Nansemond River Tuesday night.
