In observance of the New Year’s holiday, Suffolk City offices will be closed Monday and will reopen for normal operations on Tuesday.
The city observes all state-designated holidays, and it will follow the state’s practice of observing the Sunday holiday on Monday this year.
There will be no change to the trash or TFC Recycling collection schedule for the week.
The Department of Public Works Refuse Division will collect Christmas trees and boxes as a special collection until Jan. 6. Trees and boxes must be placed at the curb the same day as the residence’s regular collection. Trees need not be secured and the boxes need not be collapsed.
Through that date, Christmas trees and boxes will not be counted towards the 12 free special collections. Any Christmas trees put out for collection after Jan. 6 will be picked up but will count as a special collection.
