Through the generosity of individuals, businesses, churches, civic and social groups, there were plenty of toys to make the holiday merry and bright during Saturday’s event.

Director Nancy Williams said there were at least 700 toys available. Distribution took place on Saturday at 5E Roberts Ave., Windsor.

Clothes were also available, along with food.

Collecting and giving food, clothing and toys to people in genuine need has been a part of the organization’s purpose since it started in 2007, said Williams.

She added that Community Harvest Outreach serves “a broad spectrum of families — single, married and seniors.”

The average Community Harvest Outreach client family has three children. Sometimes they’re single parents, but even with two working jobs, “it’s just enough to pay the bills,” Williams said.

A particular consideration for seniors is food availability.

The ministry does its regular distributions on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
