Velma Lucille Lawson-Brownson entered into eternal slumber on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016.

She was a devoted member of Metropolitan Baptist Church until her health began to fail.

Velma leaves behind to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, three sons, Ronald Reynolds and Donald Reynolds, both of Vineland, N.J., and Bryant Dixon, of Suffolk; four daughters, Vallory R. Ward, of Hampton, Sandra Gay, of Suffolk, Renee Parker, of Virginia Beach, and Vicky Dixon, of Franklin; 17 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.

Ms. Brownson’s visitation will take place from 3 to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, at the funeral home. A home going service will take place at noon on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at Metropolitan Baptist Church, and she will be laid to rest at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
