Dorothy Mae Hoggard-Bivins

Dorothy Mae Hoggard-Bivins, 90, affectionately known as “’Dot,” entered into eternal slumber on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born on May 5, 1926, in Suffolk/ Nansemond County to the late Carrie E. Demiel-Hoggard and Andrew Jackson Hoggard.

She was a faithful and devoted member of Faith Temple Ministries Apostolic Church, where she served diligently in various ministries.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Lee Bivins; two sons, Fred Holland Jr. and Willie G. Hoggard; and grandson, Willie Junius Moore.

Dot leaves behind to cherish her beautiful memory, her beloved son, Lloyd Holland Sr.; sisters, Helen Goodman Bryant and Marion Goodman-Carter; brother, William H. Goodman; grandchildren, Angela Holland Dotson (Michael), Rhonda Hoggard Skinner (Larry Sr.), and Anthony Holland; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

The Bivins family will receive visitors from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. A home going service will take place at noon Saturday at Faith Temple Ministries Church, and she will be laid to rest in the T.E. Cooke-Overton Garden of Carver Memorial Cemetery.
