Herbert L. Soule, 90, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 9, 2016. He was preceded in death by his wife, Delia B. Soule; son, Ray Soule; and grandson, Andy Soule.

Herb was a World War II veteran and served in the Navy in the South Pacific. After the war, he worked for Ford Motor Co. and retired after 35 years as a supervisor. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Suffolk. Herb was an avid fisherman, loved baking pastries and golfing, and was a NASCAR enthusiast. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, and he was an excellent speller.

He is survived by his sons, Ronald Soule and wife, Patricia, of Albany, Ohio, and Brian J. Soule and wife, Stephanie, of Grand Junction, Colo.; grandchildren, Christopher Soule, Katie Felton and Tanya Caswell; and very special friend, Elsie Brinkley.

A funeral service will be conducted on Nov. 14, 2016, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 237 N. Main St, Suffolk, by Dr. Thurman Hayes Jr. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be offered to the church.
