The completion date is on the horizon for the Hillpoint Estates community, located off of Godwin Boulevard.

Beginning in October 2014, about 40 of the projected 86 homes have been built, according to Nicole Maggio, Chesapeake Homes real estate agent and new home specialist. She anticipates the subdivision will be completed in about two years.

Chesapeake Homes is also planning to build another community, King Fisher, behind Hillpoint Estates. Maggio predicts building for the new community will begin next month and will be completed in about three years.

“Suffolk has been growing on our radar lately,” Maggio said. “Chesapeake and Virginia Beach are getting tight now.”

“Suffolk is the new Chesapeake and Chesapeake is the new Virginia Beach.”

The homes appeal to “a pretty wide variety of families,” Maggio said.

The builder attracts a wide variety of residents, from single families to retired couples, she said.

Both the Hillpoint Estates and King Fisher communities will have similar floor plans and models.

“They have proven to be plans that our buyers have been enjoying. So we thought, ‘Why reinvent the wheel?’” Maggio said.

The Hillpoint Estates homes range from 1,960 to more than 3,010 square feet, with prices ranging between $279,900 and $334,900.

However, due to the recent construction, Maggio said the builder plans to hike its base prices by $10,000.

“As you go through the neighborhood, the value increases,” she said.

The homes typically include four bedrooms and 2.5 baths up to five bedrooms and 4.5 baths. Amenities include garages, covered porches, walk-in closets and washers and dryers.

However, Maggio said what sets the homes apart are their standard eco-friendly features.

The notable features are the tankless water heaters and Low-E windows, which are both cost-effective and efficient.

The water heaters don’t require water to boil and therefore never run out of hot water. The Low-E windows block heat from the sunlight during the summer, which lowers cooling costs.

Katie Seibel, a current resident who moved to the area with her family from the Midwest, said, “we’ve been very happy.”

“Everything was new,” she said. “We had nothing to change.”

When asked what differentiates Chesapeake Homes from other builders, Maggio said, “we do hear a lot on the quality aspect of our homes.”
