King’s Fork High School girls’ basketball’s Amesha Miller has committed to play at University of North Carolina — Greensboro.

The Lady Bulldogs senior forward decided where she will play college basketball after countless visits, meetings with coaches and lots of thought and discussions with family, she said. The Spartans are an NCAA Division I school that competes in the Southern Conference.

“The process was definitely stressful but in a fun way,” Miller said about her recruiting process. “I was able to see different programs and different people, but it ultimately came down to what was the best fit for me, and I felt UNCG was the best fit.”

Miller mentioned that when Spartans coach Trina Patterson, a former Old Dominion University women’s basketball assistant, visited her at her home, it felt like she was a part of her family. She cared a lot about Miller’s interests beyond just basketball, Miller said.

They talked about school, academic goals and life after basketball. Miller plans to major in biology.

Her other top choices were Norfolk State University, Delaware State University and Wagner College.

“I knew UNCG was the one when I was finished with all my visits and started writing down my thoughts,” Miller said. “After thinking about everything, I realized UNCG had my heart.”

With Miller’s decision, she can now go into her season with relief. She still has goals she wants to accomplish this year.

Miller was a 4A All-State selection last season, averaging 17 points and 12 rebounds per game. The Lady Bulldogs made an appearance in the state tournament, losing in the state semifinal, and Miller will look to lead them even further this year.
