Five King’s Fork High School volleyball players were honored with all-conference team selections.
After dueling with several tough teams this year, the Bulldogs volleyball had two recognized amongst the best in the conference, along with an honorable mention. Rontre Pope and Gavin Ginn were selected to the second team for Conference 18. Blake Sargent was named an honorable mention.
The Lady Bulldogs had three seniors selected to the all-conference teams. Latoya Thomas was named to the first team, while Lauryn Bailey and Cydney Nichols were named to the second team. Jordan Fransee was named an honorable mention.
Thomas was an honorable mention last year and made a significant improvement into the first team. Bailey took the year off last year and was able to come back and make the second team.
“It’s a very amazing accomplishment for me,” Thomas said. “Going from an honorable mention in the exact same conference to being amongst the elite is amazing.”
“After taking my junior year off to work on school and coming back my last year I would have never imagined this,” Bailey said. “I was really excited about making the second team. I had the time of my life on the court with those girls.”
Both teams season ended this week after Conference 18 tournament losses to Great Bridge. The Bulldogs finished the season with a four-game winning streak before the loss, and the Lady Bulldogs had a seven-game win streak going.
