King’s Fork High School’s boys’ volleyball team traveled to Deep Creek and lost to Great Bridge High School in its only game of the Conference 18 tournament.

Though the Bulldogs were coming into the tournament with some momentum, they were unable to win a set as they lost 3-0 Tuesday night.

“They fought hard; we just loss to a better team,” Bulldogs’ coach Kevin Howell said.

The Bulldogs were the fourth seed in the conference tournament, while Great Bridge was the No. 1 seed. Howell felt that his team was prepared and played well.

“Our attitudes were the best they’ve been,” Howell said. “The camaraderie was there. Part of me still wishes we had more games to play. They are a good group of guys.”

KFHS finishes the season with a 6-14 record and will have seven of their 12 players returning next season. The season didn’t go exactly how the Bulldogs preferred, but Howell credits his team for continuing to fight and improve.

“It was a great season,” Howell said. “We didn’t meet the goals we wanted to reach, but we were head and shoulders better than we were at the beginning of the season. We had a great time, and I really looked forward to working with them every day.”

The Bulldogs were able to accomplish team goals such as limiting the team’s errors during games. Howell was most proud of his team’s ability to come together during the season, regardless of the situations.

“Those guys fought hard all year,” Howell said.
