Both Warriors volleyball teams took losses in the opening round of the Conference 10 tournament.
Despite a late third-set surge the Lady Warriors were defeated 3-0 by Gloucester High School in the opening round of the Conference 10 tournament Saturday morning at Warwick High School.
In the first two sets, the Lady Warriors did not seem able to catch the momentum that they wanted to. The Lady Dukes were playing well throughout the first two sets but began to get complacent in the third. The Lady Warriors fought their hardest in the third to give themselves a chance to play another set but ultimately could not finish.
Nansemond River’s boys’ volleyball team also played last Saturday and was defeated 4-3 in an intense game against host Warwick High School.
“For the most part I believe we played very well,” Warriors senior co-captain Jake Bordeaux said. “There were a few times we let our errors get the best of us, while we also could have covered more hits.”
“I think we played good, but we waited too late to start playing our best,” senior co-captain Nikoli Green said.
Though the season is over, the boys’ volleyball team felt it was a great season despite not winning many games.
“With it being my last year, it was a season to remember,” Green said. “We didn’t go as far as we would have liked, but we enjoyed playing with each other.”
