The King’s Fork girls’ and boys’ volleyball teams got wins against Wilson High School Thursday evening. The win wrapped up regular season play for both teams. The Lady Bulldogs go into the postseason next week with a six-game winning streak.
“We have so much momentum,” the Lady Bulldogs’ Lauryn Bailey said. “We can take that momentum from the last set of that game and build on that going forward.”
The Lady Bulldogs are playing well right now but know there are things they can clean up so that they can play even better. Lady Bulldogs coach Ann Bailey wants to team to continue to work on their serving and to be more disciplined. They know consistency will be a big part of how far the Lady Bulldogs go in the postseason.
“Consistency will be the key to our success,” the Lady Bulldogs’ Latoya Thomas said. “When our team plays well, it’s like a well-oiled machine with everyone doing their part. We all have different assignments when we step on the court, and if we execute them we can be unstoppable.”
The boys’ team is on a three-game winning streak going into the postseason. They swept all of their games this week.
“We’ve been playing well the guys are really gelling,” Bulldogs coach Kevin Howell said. “When you winning your attitude changes and you feel good about everything.”
Howell feels if his team continues to build confidence and chemistry, it will give them a good chance of reaching their goal, which is winning the conference.
“Our chemistry is getting better, and everyone is working together,” Howell said. “Players know their roles now and they are happy with them. We can always get better at everything we want to continue to improve everything.”
Both Bulldogs team will face Great Bridge in the first round of the playoffs next week. The games will be held at Deep Creek High School. The boys play at 5 p.m. Tuesday, and the girls play the following day at 6:30 p.m.
