The Bulldogs got their first win of the season as they defeated the Lake Taylor Titans at home in a Conference 17 match Tuesday evening.

Not only did the Bulldogs win, but they won in straight sets. A long season of ups and downs and twists has finally paid off for the Bulldogs.

“It was good to finally break through in the win column,” Bulldogs coach Kevin Howell said. “They had a good time out there even though we may not have been as successful as we would have liked to have been this year.”

Howell and his players felt relieved about getting their first win of the season. No one on the team envisioned a winless season, so the Bulldogs made it a mission to go out and be a different team.

“I commend my players for continuing to work hard despite how our season is going,” Howell said. “I haven’t had a player quit the team or drop their heads or anything. They are still continuing to work hard. This win was good for them.”

To build on this win, the Bulldogs want to continue to take each game as they come. The win for the Bulldogs can very well start a win streak.

“We are going to continue to take it one hit at a time, one serve at a time,” Howell said. “Just continuing to do our job and getting better at every aspect.”

With the Lake Taylor win, the Bulldogs are 1-12 on the season and 1-5 in their conference.

The Lady Bulldogs also defeated Lake Taylor and are confident they will be playing their best volleyball going into the postseason.

“We competed very well,” the Lady Bulldogs’ Lauryn Bailey said. “We had little mistakes here and there, but overall we got the job done.”

The Lady Bulldogs know that conference wins are important when it comes to seeding in the postseason, so they know every play is important.

“Conference games are vital,” Bailey said. “We want to win to get that first or second spot in conference. When it comes to conference games we play hard until the end because we want to be in the best position possible to win the conference.”

Next for King’s Fork volleyball is another home conference meeting against Wilson High School on Oct. 13. The girls play at 5:30 p.m., and the boys will immediately follow.
