In observance of Labor Day, city departments and other locations will be closed on Monday. The city observes all state holidays, and all state offices also will be closed on Labor Day.
The city’s Tourism Visitor Center will remain open on Monday.
Suffolk’s four major parks — Lone Star Lakes, Constant’s Wharf, Sleepy Hole and Bennett’s Creek — will remain open, but no park attendants will be on duty.
The Southeastern Public Service Authority’s regional landfill in Suffolk will be open for its regular working hours on Labor Day. Its administrative offices in Chesapeake, however, will be closed.
All Suffolk libraries will be closed Monday and reopen on Tuesday at 9 a.m. The Suffolk Museum will be closed Monday and will reopen Tuesday at 10 a.m.
The Public Works Department will pick up trash a day later than the scheduled day the week of Sept. 7. For example, Monday’s route will be picked up on Tuesday, and Tuesday’s route will be picked up on Wednesday. Trash must be placed at curbside no later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection.
