Man pleads to robbery

A Newport News man pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to five robberies throughout Hampton Roads last year, including one in Suffolk.
Sylvester Lipscombe, 48, faces a maximum penalty of 100 years in prison when he is sentenced on Feb. 3, according to a press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Lipscombe pleaded guilty to the early-morning robbery of the Bridge Road Burger King on Sept. 29, 2015. He also pleaded guilty to robbing a Krispy Kreme, Hampton Health Mart and CheckSmart in Hampton and a Metro PCS store in Newport News.
