Where is South Suffolk growth?

To the editor:

After a recent visit to Suffolk, I noticed something quite disturbing.

Where’s the growth in East Suffolk, South Suffolk and other areas that are predominately African-American?

Much of East Suffolk looks the same as the year I left, 1982, and that’s a shame! Northern Suffolk is on the rise, and I’m extremely happy about that.

But what about these other communities? No new restaurants, no grocery stores, nothing. We deserve better than to have to shop in dirty little mom-and-pop shops that do not reflect the community and that are owned by people who don’t care about the people they serve.

I implore the Suffolk leadership to share the wealth.
