Western Branch Middle School will host its first Fall Craft Fair on Sept. 24.

Due to the success of the craft show held in April, the school decided to host another one this fall.

Just prior to the spring show, there was inclement weather. But once the sun came out, “we were flooded with people who could have stayed home if they wanted to,” said Tracy Dunn, one of the organizers for the show and a sixth-grade special education teaching assistant at the school.

The event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and admission is free.

There will be more than 100 crafters and vendors present, selling crafts such as pottery, clothing, glasswork, photography and hygiene products, among others.

“You name it,” Dunn said. “Anything you can find at a craft fair will be there.”

Also among the crafters and vendors will be former and current students.

Ruck’s BBQ Hut will provide concessions and for each craft purchase, patrons will be provided with a free Starbucks coffee, while supplies last.

All proceeds from the fair will go to classroom upgrades at the school.

Western Branch High School has also hosted craft fairs for the last several years.

However, Dunn said the high school didn’t inspire the middle school’s fairs. Rather, it was Dr. Kambar Khoshaba, the school principal, who is an avid crafter.

“It’s good to have something in your own backyard that benefits the school,” Dunn said.

The school hopes the craft shows are a tradition that will continue for many years to come.
