Lakeland High School beat Woodrow Wilson High School 28-8 in the Cavs’ season opener. A rainy night did not stop the Cavaliers from competing hard.

The Cavaliers leaned heavily on their rushing attack to move down the field and put points up on the board. Coach Kevin Knight wanted his team to play hard, fast and physical Friday night and they did. At the half, neither team had scored a point. The Cavaliers put up 28 second-half points and played sound defense against Wilson.

“Everybody in the locker believed we could come out and win,” senior Garrett Whitley said. “We blocked all distractions and got the job done.”
