Monica L. Barnes has joined Virginia Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co. as an insurance agent in its Nansemond County Farm Bureau office in Suffolk.

Barnes has more than 28 years of insurance industry experience and most recently served as an administrative assistant in the Smithfield office of Isle of Wight County Farm Bureau.

She earned the Accredited Customer Service Representative designation in 2005 and the Accredited Advisor in Insurance designation in 2009.

A Suffolk native, Barnes currently resides there with her family. She and her husband, Mike, have four children. In her free time, she enjoys running and spending time with family and friends.
