Michael Sherrod “Mudd” Taylor, 58, transitioned July 7, 2016, at Sentara Obici Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. Taylor and Isabel Baker Taylor. He is survived by his son, Leon Warren, of Suffolk; two sisters, Cynthia Simms (Ivan), of Suffolk, and Valerie Burton (Thomas), of Capital Heights, Md.; two brothers, James H. Taylor Jr. (Shirley) and Larry D. Taylor, of Suffolk,.

A celebration of life will be held at noon, Wednesday, July 13, 2016, in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
