A Suffolk man and a Chesapeake woman died in a fatal crash on Route 58 Sunday afternoon.

Brandon O’Neil Riddick, 21, of the 1600 block of Nansemond Parkway, and Kendra Shalante Sonae Fitchett, 18, of the 400 block of Mapleshore Drive in Chesapeake, were killed when the 1999 Ford Contour Riddick was driving ran off the roadway and struck a tree, according to a press release from State Police Sgt. Michelle Anaya.

The crash occurred about 3:20 p.m. on Route 58 westbound in Chesapeake, east of Snowden Road.

Riddick and Fitchett were wearing their seat belts, Anaya stated. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Parts of Route 58, as well as the on-ramp from Interstate 664 southbound, were closed for about three hours following the crash.
