CNU graduates announced
Ten local students were among Christopher Newport University’s spring 2016 graduating class, the largest in the university’s history. Nearly 1,300 graduates received degrees, including the following Suffolk residents:

Chowan inducts nine into criminal justice honor society
The Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society inducted nine new members into its national organization at Chowan University during a ceremony in Vaughan Auditorium on April 25.
Aaron Flanagan, a junior criminal justice law enforcement major from Suffolk, was among the honorees.
Alpha Phi Sigma recognizes academic excellence of undergraduate and graduate students of criminal justice, as well as Juris Doctorate students.
Chowan inducts 32 into social sciences honor society
Chowan University recently inducted 32 new members into the honor society Pi Gamma Mu, the international honor society in social sciences, during a ceremony on April 25 in Vaughan Auditorium.
Aaron Flanagan, a junior criminal justice law enforcement major from Suffolk, was among the honorees.
Pi Gamma Mu is the oldest honor society in the social sciences.

Suffolk student honored at Washington and Lee University
Henry Luzzatto, of Suffolk, a member of the class of 2018 at Washington and Lee University, earned dean’s list and honor roll status for the recently ended winter 2016 term.
Dean’s list is granted to those achieving at least a 3.4 grade point average, while the honor roll is for those with at least a 3.75.
Brown honored at Bob Jones
Hannah Brown, a senior exercise science major from Suffolk, was among about 470 Bob Jones University students named to the Spring 2016 President’s List. The President’s List recognizes students who earn a 3.75 or higher grade point average for the semester.
Holland graduates
Rachel Holland, of Suffolk, was among 1,100 candidates for graduation at Coastal Carolina University’s commencement ceremonies on May 6 and 7. Grand Strand businessman and civic leader Dennis L. Wade was the speaker for the event.
Holland graduated with a Bachelor of Science in exercise and sport science.
