“The Greatest Pirate Story Never Told” is set to play at the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts this Sunday. A survey about the center will be distributed at the show and is available online, and one lucky survey respondent will win four tickets to a show of their choice next season.

Folks in Suffolk will have the chance to give their input on the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts and have a chance to win free tickets to a show in the process.

As the center crafts its upcoming season after 10 years of existence, Executive Director Jackie Cherry is looking at the center’s history and hopes to get community input as well.

“I always go back and look at history,” Cherry said. “I went back and looked at 10 years of history in terms of what did well, what didn’t do as well, and some of the newer things we’ve brought on.”

She said she decided to do a survey to hear ideas from the public, as well.

“I think it’s something we need to continually do every few years,” she said. “This is the community’s chance to give us their ideas and suggestions to keep the Suffolk Center a lively and vibrant part of the arts community. We’re celebrating 10 years of outstanding performances, exhibits and classes, and we want to be sure we continue to provide the events and programs our community desires.”

Cherry said the survey is available online, and it also was distributed at the “Masters of Soul” show on Saturday. The same will be done at “The Greatest Pirate Story Never Told” this Sunday.

The survey asks questions about what kind of performances and classes the center should offer, what they consider a reasonable ticket price and what incentives for membership would be most enticing.

It also asks whether the survey-taker knows about center offerings such as rotating exhibits, educational programs and meeting spaces for events ranging from weddings to business conferences.

“We’ve had really good comments,” Cherry said.

Everyone who responds to the survey will be entered in a drawing for four free tickets to the performance of the winner’s choice during the 2016-17 performance season.

The deadline to complete the survey is May 22, and the drawing will be held May 30. To take the survey, visit www.suffolkcenter.org and click on “Your Opinion Matters.”
