By this time next year, Bon Secours will have a new — and bigger — presence in Western Branch.
The health care organization plans to lease a proposed 30,000-square-foot, two-story building on Taylor Road by summer 2017, said Lynne Zultanky, a spokeswoman for Bon Secours Hampton Roads.
The builder also plans to construct a separate, 5,600-square-foot building next door to lease for retail use, according to plans.
The builder is seeking to rezone 4.2 acres in the 2600 block of Taylor Road, with plans slated to go before the Chesapeake Planning Commission on May 11 and the Chesapeake City Council on May 17.
Bon Secours is also building a $20 million cancer treatment in Harbour View. Construction is on schedule for the 58,000-square-foot facility to open in September 2016, Zultanky said.
Two existing medical practices, Internists at Western Branch and Internists of Churchland, will be moving into the Western Branch building, said Zultanky. The building will also house In Motion Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, an occupational therapy group, and will have on-site access to radiology and lab capabilities, she said.
“This facility will allow us to expand and offer patients better access to our services,” said Zultanky. “Integrating services under one roof … will give us opportunities to add more providers to improve the quality of health care in the community.”
Despite its close proximity to Harbour View, the new Western Branch location will not impact any existing services in North Suffolk, said Zultanky.
“It will complement Harbour View and allow us to better serve all of our patients,” she said.
