Lady Bulldogs drop contest

A lot of mental errors forced the King’s Fork Lady Bulldogs into suffering a 10-0 defeat at home against Deep Creek on Monday.
Coach Richard Froemel stressed that mental mistakes cost his team the game against Deep Creek.
He credited the Hornets with an ability to hit very well, saying that they didn’t make it to the state tournament last year for nothing. But all in all, he expected much more from his team.
“Defensively we are still too inconsistent,” Froemel said. “Our goal is no mental errors.”
At 8-4, King’s Fork is ahead in the standings, but the level of expectation is heightened by their success.
“We are not accustomed to losing like that at King’s Fork,” Froemel said. “I don’t know if anyone stood out in that game. Offensively, we had eight hits, but we were stranding the runner on base.”
Lindsay Carlesi managed to get two hits, but that wasn’t enough to secure any type of momentum in a game that gradually turned in Deep Creek’s favor.
“Five other girls had like one hit, but that’s about it,” Froemel said.
Senior pitcher Kay’Lee Justice did all she could, according to the coach, but a lot of mental mistakes hindered their performance greatly.
“Conditioning is not the problem,” Froemel said. “Mentally we need to get better, and our short game needs to improve as well.”
The game scheduled for Lake Taylor was postponed on Tuesday due to inclement weather, leaving his team time to rest and reflect on the upcoming challenges.
The Lady Bulldogs have 10 games left, seven of which are conference, while Deep Creek leads their conference as well with a 9-3 record, boasting a six-game winning streak.
King’s Fork also has to play Churchland twice, first on May 9 at Churchland and then on May 13 at home. The Truckers currently have a 5-0 record. These two non-conference games will be a good indicator if the team can get its mental game back on track.
“If we can eliminate the mental mistakes, something like this won’t happen again,” Froemel said.
