More than 2,000 people in Suffolk were without power after a line of severe thunderstorms rolled through the city Monday evening.
Most of the outages are due to a downed Dominion Virginia Power pole with a transformer fire in the 1200 block of Wilroy Road. It was reported at 8:44 p.m., according to a city press release. There were no injuries, and Dominion Virginia Power responded to the scene along with Suffolk Fire & Rescue.
About 2,050 people were without power as of 9:30 p.m., according to the release.
In addition, crews responded to an 8:15 p.m. call of a downed tree across the roadway in the 500 block of Lummis Road. Suffolk Police Department and Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel were able to remove the tree, and the road is now passable, according to the release.
