Police investigate ATV accident

The Suffolk Police Department responded Saturday evening to an accident involving an ATV in the 1100 block of Audubon Road.
The accident was reported at 6:03 p.m., according to a city press release.
Investigators found that the ATV was being operated by an adult male with an 80-year-old female passenger when the accident occurred approximately a mile off of the road on farmland, according to a city press release.
They both received emergency medical assessment and treatment from Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel. The female suffered injuries not considered life-threatening and was airlifted by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The driver and passenger are not related.
Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the accident, according to the city press release. The investigation remains ongoing, and charges are pending.
