Chapman named to dean’s list
Donnell Chapman of Suffolk, a student at the Lake County Campus, has been named to the Columbia College dean’s list for the October-December 2015 and January-March 2016 sessions.
To be named to the dean’s list, a student must have completed 12 semester hours in a 16-week period and must have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a four-point scale.
Thomson named to dean’s list
Delaney Thomson of Suffolk has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2015 semester at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wis. Thomson is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in advertising.
Pittard named to dean’s list
Jordan Pittard of Suffolk, a health sciences student studying kinesiology, has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2015 semester at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
The recognition goes to full-time undergraduate students who achieve at least a 3.5 GPA out of a possible 4.0 during a regular semester.
Four from Suffolk on VMI dean’s list
Four Suffolk students are among the 735 cadets who were recently named to the dean’s list for the first semester of academic year 2015-16 at the Virginia Military Institute.
To be eligible for the dean’s list, a cadet must have a term grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale and no grade below a C.
Suffolk students making the list include the following:
- Eric J. Cedotal Jr., a sophomore majoring in physics and applied mathematics. Cedotal’s parents are Eric J. Cedotal Sr. and Angela K. Roberts.
- Jeremy J. Cobb, a sophomore majoring in civil engineering. Cobb’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Stephen C. Cobb.
- Benjamin R. Eberhardt, a senior majoring in economics and business. Eberhardt’s parents are Debra K. Eberhardt and Michael D. Eberhardt.
- Taylor K. Edens, a senior majoring in economics and business. Edens’ parents are Mr. and Mrs. Dornton K. Edens.
Hardiman inducted into Kappa Pi
Kappa Pi, the international honorary art fraternity, welcomed Samara Hardiman of Suffolk, a junior studying graphic design, as a new member in its induction ceremony at Chowan University’s Vaughan Auditorium recently.
The criteria for induction into Kappa Pi is an overall GPA of a 3.0 or higher, completion of at least 12 credit hours of art courses and a recommendation from the Visual Arts faculty.
Forte graduates from Radford
Melissa Laura Forte of Suffolk graduated from Radford University at the end of the fall semester.
Forte, of Bennetts Creek Landing Road, earned a Bachelor of Science in interdisciplinary studies.
Eight honored at Radford
Eight Suffolk residents have been named to the fall semester dean’s list at Radford University.
They are:
- Amber Lynn Daubenspeck, a sophomore exercise, sport and health education major;
- Melissa Laura Forte, a senior interdisciplinary studies major;
- Ryan James Fry, a freshman physics major;
- Jennifer Hare, a senior art major;
- Kaylor Marie Nash, a sophomore exercise, sport and health education major;
- Kimberly A. Perry, a sophomore pre-nursing major;
- Kelsey B. White, senior interdisciplinary studies major
- And Chelsea B. Whitney, a sophomore design major.
To be named to the dean’s list, a student must have taken 12 or more graded credit hours and have a grade point average of 3.4 or above with no grade below a C.
Alpha Lambda Delta inducts two from Suffolk
The Chowan University Chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta, a national honor society for first-year college students, recently inducted two new students from Suffolk.
Demetria Futrell, a freshman studying alcohol and drug studies psychology, and Rebecca Gayheart, a freshman studying counseling psychology, were among those chosen for the honor.
Membership in Alpha Lambda Delta is open to full-time freshman students who earn a scholastic average of 3.5 or better at a four-year college or university.
