Elizabeth Young James Beamon, of Suffolk, passed away peacefully April 2, 2016, surrounded by family.
Loving mother of William Clifton Beamon, Suffolk, Faith B. Newman, Washington, D.C., and stepbrother Rufus Byrd, Chesapeake. She was preceded in death by husband, Costen Beamon and son, Lee Alvin Beamon Sr. Grandmother to Lee Alvin Beamon Jr., Suffolk, Lester B. Beamon (Sheila), Suffolk, Christopher Paul Newman (Annie), Charlottesville, Jamil Newman (Ann), Waldorf, Md., Corey Newman (Gi), Washington, D.C., special grandson, Dexter Davis, one daughter-in-law, Priscilla H. Benn (Wesley), son-in-law, Rico M. Newman, great-grandchildren Devin Marcus Beamon, Kahmel Bradshaw and Marienne Faith Newman; nieces, Mamie B. Roundtree (Wallace), Suffolk, Lummie Elizabeth King (Frank), Washington, D.C., and Barbara Keesee, St. Louis, Mo., Sarah Clayborn, Waverly, nephews, Willie and Moses Byrd, and a host of relatives and friends.
A visitation will take place from 3 to 8 p.m., and the family will greet visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday April 8, 2016, at the funeral home. A service of precious memories for 104 years of life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at St Timothy Baptist Church, 1613 E. Washington St., Suffolk.
