Suffolk police are investigating a Wednesday incident in which a bullet broke the windshield of a pickup truck in the parking lot of the Department of Motor Vehicles.

The incident occurred about 11:24 a.m. at the DMV in the 200 block of Holladay Street. A man went into the DMV while his girlfriend remained sitting in his 2004 Ford F-150 truck, city spokeswoman Debbie George said.

The woman then heard the windshield breaking, George said. The investigating officer located a bullet on the ground in front of the truck. No one was injured in the incident.

Police believe someone shot a handgun into the air in a nearby neighborhood, and the bullet happened to hit the truck in the DMV parking lot.

There are no suspects at this time, George said. Anyone who has information is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers to Crime Line never have to give their names or appear in court, and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
