One gravely injured in Route 58 crash

A man is hospitalized with serious injuries following a Wednesday morning crash on U.S. Route 58 in Chesapeake.
The crash happened at 12:10 a.m. at Route 58 and Biscoe, near the Hampton Roads Executive Airport, according to Detective D.M. Boykin of the Chesapeake Police Department.
According to Boykin, a Pepsi delivery truck was parked legally on the side of the road at the Kangaroo Gas Station on Route 58 eastbound, when a car ran into it from behind.
The passenger vehicle’s driver suffered injuries that were considered life-threatening and was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The Pepsi truck driver was uninjured.
According to Boykin, alcohol may have played a role in the accident, which remains under investigation.
