Willie Mae Jenkins, 88, of 2620 E. Washington St., Suffolk, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of North Carolina and the daughter of the late Florine and Collie Hawk. She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Jenkins.
She retired from Planters Peanut Company. She was a member of New Middle Swamp Missionary Baptist Church, where she was on the Missionary Board. Ms. Jenkins was a member of the Royal Hunters Club and Guiding Light Savings Club.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, James Lee Jenkins, of Suffolk; sisters, Bessie Hawk, of Newport News, Pauline Hawk and Carleither Jones, both of Suffolk; Margaret Hawk, of Sunbury, N.C., and Erma Lee Hawk Moore, of Corapeake, N.C.; brothers, Claude Edward Hawk, Hurley Hawk and Isaac Hawk, all of Corapeake, N.C.; goddaughter, Deborah Hayer Adkins, of Corapeake, N.C.; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2016, at New Middle Swamp Missionary Church, 790 Middle Swamp Road, Corapeake, N.C., officiated by the Rev. Dr. Claude Odom.
