Five lucky winners of the #iheartsuffolkbiz contest will be taking a shopping spree at local businesses with $100 gift cards.
All last week, Facebook fans entered the contest by posting a photo from a local business and using the hashtag #iheartsuffolkbiz. The contest was a partnership between the city of Suffolk and the Suffolk News-Herald and was held for the second year.
The winners and the businesses from which they entered are:
- Quinton Goodwin — Harper’s Table
- Paula Pulley — Edible Arrangements
- Teresa L. Breakfield — Mason’s Grill and Smokehouse
- Brian Bunting — B&B Gunsmithing LLC
- Emily Reynolds Asbell — Schadel Sheet Metal Works Inc.
“We would like to congratulate the five winners of the Love Local, #iheartsuffolkbiz contest and thank them for supporting locally owned and operated businesses,” Suffolk News-Herald Publisher John Carr said. “We hope many other readers got to try some new local businesses and will become lasting customers as well.”
Carr credited the city’s Economic Development Department with spurring the initiative.
“The city of Suffolk’s Economic Development Department deserves credit for developing a fun and creative promotion,” he said. “They put considerable effort, thought and investment into supporting local businesses. It would make the businesses in many communities envious.
“We look forward to supporting both our local businesses and the city in any future promotions.”
