Exhibit of Excellence entries sought

The Suffolk Art League, in cooperation with the Suffolk Fine Arts Commission, will present the Exhibit of Excellence: Suffolk Student Art 2016, from Feb. 2-28 at the Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave.
Students in grades 10, 11 and 12 who either live in or attend school in Suffolk are eligible to submit two artworks in any medium.
This year’s juror will be Alex Mann. He became the Joan & Macon Brock Curator of American Art at the Chrysler Museum in 2011, following a decade of studies, research and curatorial work in New England, Washington, D.C., Germany and Italy. His recent curatorial project include the exhibitions ”Shooting Lincoln: Photography and the 16th President,” Gifts from Japan: Landscape Woodblocks in the Shin-Hanga Style,” and “Georgia O’Keeffe: A Place of Her Own.”
To submit artwork, students should bring their work to the Suffolk Art Gallery, 118 Bosley Ave., on Thursday, Jan. 21 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is $625 in awards offered, including $200 Best in Show (given in honor of Dana Adams), $150 First Place, $100 Second Place and $75 Third Place.
There will be an opening reception and awards presentation on Feb. 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The reception is open to students, their families and friends and the public.
