Hortense Dolores Boone Rawles, 83, of Richmond, formerly of Suffolk, entered into eternal peace on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at Chippenham Hospital in Richmond.

Dolores was born Oct. 21, 1932, in Carrsville to Rochelle Boone and Hortense Boykin Boone. She is survived by three daughters, Patricia R. White, of Rock Hill, S.C., Pamela R. Brown (Kempis), of Chesterfield, and Melissa Harper, of Portsmouth; and one son, Edgar T. Rawles Jr. (Melody), of Chesterfield. She also leaves 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Currin (Colbert), of Durham, N.C., and Sandra Bailey (Bernard), of Suffolk; sister-in-law, Dorothy Rawles, of Suffolk; one brother, Marvin Boone, of Suffolk.

Dolores was a retired educator of 32 years in the Suffolk Public Schools and the owner of DB’s tax service.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 26, 2015, at East End Baptist Church. She will be laid to rest in Boykin family cemetery on Holland Road.
