A Suffolk man who drugged an acquaintance, sexually assaulted him and then attempted to hire someone to kill him will serve 25 years for the crimes.
Sean Antonio Brinkley, 47, was sentenced Wednesday in Suffolk Circuit Court.
Prosecutor Heather Emmert said the original incident happened on June 23, 2013.
Brinkley made a cocktail of alcohol and Xanax and gave it to the 18-year-old victim, Emmert said. The victim did not know the drink contained Xanax, which can cause drowsiness, according to the Centers for Disease Control.
Brinkley drove the victim to the Suffolk Executive Airport, where he performed sex acts on him, Emmert said.
Following his arrest on the sex crimes charges, Brinkley was in Western Tidewater Regional Jail in October 2013 when he attempted to hire someone to murder the victim, Emmert said. An undercover operation revealed Brinkley’s plot.
Brinkley received 10 years to serve on each of the two sex crimes charges, and five years to serve on the charge of solicitation to commit murder.
