If you like food, fun and donating money to help the community, then the TowneBank Foundation’s “extravaganza” event, taking place on Oct. 24 at TowneBank University, located at 6009 Harbour View Blvd., is the event for you.
Adults who attend can expect to find “a little something for everyone,” said Beth Prever, senior vice president of marketing. There will be silent auctions, foosball, night golf, cornhole, a NASCAR simulator and a sports lounge where guests can watch various football games.
Between the hours of 4:30 and 8:30 p.m., guests can come and go from the event as they please, said Prever. Throughout the evening, there will be musical performances by The Marquise, the “Jimmy Masters’ Jazz Trio” and a group from the Governor’s School for the Arts, said John Matson, chairperson of the event.
Sixteen different restaurants will feature a variety of food, Matson said. “It really runs the gamut,” he added. There will be barbecue, dessert and oysters along with various other forms of seafood, said organizers of the event.
This fundraising event, put on by the TowneBank Foundation, raises funds to support non-profit organizations in the community, Matson said. All of the proceeds of the event go to the foundation, which supports the Chrysler Museum, the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters, Bon Secours Health System, Christopher Newport University, the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore and many more, he said.
From this event alone, over the years the foundation has donated more than $2 million, Matson said.
The foundation’s other annual event involves a golf tournament in May, said Prever.
Guests are encouraged to bring canned goods and other non-perishable items to be collected for donation. Tickets for the event must be purchased by Oct. 21, and the cost is $125, said Prever. Tickets can be purchased by calling 628-6376 or by going to any TowneBank location, she added.
